An 11 year old with some serious SKILLS

I spent the day yesterday doing a DIY project with my 11 year old son, Liam. We were in desperate need of a backsplash in our kitchen.  So I decided to take on the project myself.  Liam was eager to join me. His skills are really quite amazing. He picked out the glass accent tiles himself. Then he ended up doing more than half of the work. He did a great job too. He said he would love to get remodeling jobs for other people,  then commented, "No one would ever hire an 11 year old!" I'll have to post some photos of the final project after we grout it today.

Fun and Fancy Footwear

Today is the last day of school for 4 of my kids. Tomorrow the days of boredom for children and insanity for mothers begins. The long days of rummaging through cupboards for something to eat, running in and out of the door, sibling fighting, sticky hands, cuts, bruises, bug bites, beach towels scattered everywhere, searching for goggles, pleading for TV and video games, hungry mouths....all day, and the constant "I'm bored! There is NOTHING to do in this house," coupled with, "There is nothing GOOD to eat"! Oh, let summer begin!

Here is one project my kids did to keep themselves busy for at least a couple of hours last summer. We all piled in the car and went to Walmart. Each child bought a pair of 3 dollar tennis shoes and one big package of sharpe markers. Colorful, unique footwear now adorn their busy feet.
